Embassy of Nepal Hosts Special Felicitation and Film Screening to Promote Cultural Diplomacy
The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi celebrated the enduring cultural friendship between Nepal and India through a special event dedicated to cinema, artistic collaboration, and people-to-people engagement. Organized as part of the Embassy’s #NepaliMovieMonth celebrations, the programme highlighted the growing role of films in strengthening mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two neighbouring nations.

A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of acclaimed Nepali actors Mr. Pradeep Khadka and Ms. Anna Sharma, who were honoured as Nepal–India Cultural Goodwill Ambassadors in recognition of their outstanding contribution to promoting Nepali cinema and fostering stronger cultural ties between Nepal and India. The felicitation was jointly presented by Dr. Surendra Thapa, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Nepal, and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President, Global Trade & Technology Council (India), acknowledging the artists’ role in enhancing cultural connectivity through cinema.



The celebration also featured captivating cultural performances by Indian students, reflecting the shared artistic heritage and deep-rooted civilizational bonds that continue to unite the people of both countries. Adding further significance to the occasion, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Advisor, GTTCI, Chancellor, AAFT, and Founder of Noida Film City, graced the event and emphasized the importance of cinema, education, and creative industries in advancing cultural diplomacy and international collaboration.


The programme concluded with a special screening of AKTOR: Take 1, offering audiences an opportunity to experience contemporary Nepali cinema and appreciate the country’s vibrant storytelling tradition.
The event reaffirmed that cinema remains a powerful medium for strengthening bilateral relations, encouraging artistic collaboration, and bringing the people, cultures, and stories of Nepal and India closer together. It also reflected the shared commitment of the Embassy of Nepal and GTTCI to promoting meaningful cultural engagement and fostering stronger regional partnerships through the creative arts.
