Girls’ Hostel Inauguration and Felicitation of Young Wrestlers Strengthen India’s Grassroots Wrestling Mission

The Lakshya – From Soil to Olympics Under-20 National Wrestling Championship witnessed a proud and inspiring gift distribution and felicitation ceremony at the Yogeshwar Dutt Wrestling Academy, reinforcing India’s commitment to nurturing young wrestling talent from grassroots to global platforms.

Organized under the vision of “Mitti Se Olympics Medal Tak”, the championship provided a national platform for Under-20 wrestlers from across India to showcase their talent and determination. The initiative continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of athletes by providing exposure, mentorship, and infrastructure support.

A major highlight of the occasion was the distribution of gifts, trophies, and honorariums to the winning wrestlers, recognizing their dedication and outstanding performance. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by H. E. Mr. Sardor Rustambaev, who presented awards to the winners and encouraged young athletes to continue striving for excellence. His presence symbolized international goodwill and support for India’s growing sports ecosystem.

Adding further inspiration to the young wrestlers, Olympic medalist Ravi Dahiya visited the academy during the championship and interacted with the participants. His motivational presence energized the athletes and served as a reminder that dedication, discipline, and perseverance can lead to global achievements.

Another significant milestone achieved during the championship was the inauguration of the Girls’ Hostel, a dedicated residential facility designed to support aspiring women wrestlers. The facility aims to provide a safe, disciplined, and professional environment, enabling female athletes to train with confidence and pursue excellence without limitations.
This infrastructure development has been made possible through the continued support of the M3M Foundation, working in collaboration with the Yogeshwar Dutt Wrestling Academy. Their joint efforts reflect a shared commitment to building world-class facilities that empower young athletes and strengthen India’s wrestling ecosystem.

Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt expressed his gratitude to all supporters and stakeholders for their continued encouragement. He emphasized that improved infrastructure and better training facilities are essential for empowering athletes from villages and akhadas, enabling them to dream bigger and compete at national and international levels.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of several eminent dignitaries who lauded the initiative and its long-term vision for Indian sports. Distinguished attendees included General Dalbir Singh Suhag, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, one of India’s most eminent military leaders; Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson – Global Trade & Technology Council India (GTTCI); Dr. Ashwani Mehta, Medical Director – Sir Ganga Ram Kolmet Hospital; Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President – GTTCI; Mr. Shubham Gupta, Director – GTTCI; and Mr. Sanjay Kaushik, Global Advisor – Investment & Hospitality, GTTCI.


Other notable personalities who extended their support included Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Sanjay Singh, and Dr. Payal Kanodia, whose presence further encouraged the young athletes and strengthened the spirit of the championship.
