In a remarkable display of compassion and international solidarity, the Global Trade & Technology Council (India) – GTTCI, in association with Modern Public School (MPS), Lion Pratibha Aggarwal Lions Club Delhi and STIC Travel Group Myanmar Airlines, successfully handed over a significant consignment of humanitarian relief material comprising sugar to the Embassy of Myanmar, New Delhi in May 2025.
The donation was part of a humanitarian outreach aimed at supporting communities affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Myanmar. The event took place at the Embassy premises in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, where the material was graciously received by H.E. Mr. Zaw Oo, Ambassador of Myanmar, alongside the Deputy Chief of Mission.
The initiative was led by key dignitaries and changemakers:
- Ms. Alka Kapur, Principal, Modern Public School, whose students and staff played an instrumental role in collecting and organizing the relief material.
- Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President, GTTCI, who emphasized the council’s continued commitment to global humanitarian causes and regional partnerships.
- Lion Pratibha Aggarwal, a prominent leader of Lions Club Delhi, who has been actively championing humanitarian service.
- Mr. Subhash Goyal, Chairman, STIC Travel Group, who facilitated the logistics and outreach in association with Myanmar Airways International.
The initiative saw the donation of 5MT of sugar, symbolizing the spirit of community, friendship, and empathy. The contribution not only highlighted India’s generosity but also showcased the power of united civic, educational, and business institutions in responding to regional crises.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gupta reiterated GTTCI’s commitment to continuing these efforts with additional donation drives in the coming weeks, focusing on further contributions to aid Myanmar’s recovery.
This collective gesture reaffirms India’s enduring values of peace, goodwill, and solidarity with its neighbors in times of need.
