GTTCI hosts Welcome Ceremony for Ambassador of Nepal

New Delhi, March 11, 2025 – The Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI) hosted a grand welcome ceremony in honor of H.E. Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma, Ambassador of Nepal, at Radisson Blu Marina, New Delhi. The event marked the beginning of Dr. Sharma’s second tenure in India, reflecting the deep-rooted and enduring relationship between the two nations.

The ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of ambassadors from Bhutan, Bulgaria, Kenya, and Seychelles, along with diplomats from Guinea, Kazakhstan, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Tajikistan, Singapore, and the United States. The gathering underscored the strong diplomatic ties and collective commitment to fostering international collaboration.

Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President of GTTCI, delivered the welcome address, reminiscing about various occasions of working together with Dr. Sharma in his previous tenure and extending a warm welcome for his second innings in India. Mr. Rakesh Asthana reflected on the long-standing and multifaceted India-Nepal relations, emphasizing their historical and strategic importance.

Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson of GTTCI, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the numerous prospects of India-Nepal relations. She particularly emphasized the need for collaboration in the healthcare sector for mutual progress and introduced Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of the Board of Management at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr. Swaroop addressed the gathering and extended an invitation to all nations to join hands in advancing healthcare cooperation.

Several ambassadors shared their experiences of working with Dr. Sharma, recalling his excellence as a diplomat and a friend to many. His return was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation.

Dr. Ashwani Mehta, Medical Director of Kolmet Ganga Ram Hospital, played a pivotal role as a gracious host, presenting opportunities for collaboration in hospitality and healthcare. Additionally, Dr. Jauhari from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital addressed the gathering, further reinforcing the significance of Indo-Nepal cooperation in the medical field.

In his closing remarks, H.E. Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma expressed his gratitude to GTTCI for its past collaborations and for celebrating Indian festivals together with the Embassy of Nepal, further strengthening bilateral relations. He reiterated his commitment to deepening the partnership between India and Nepal across various sectors.

Mr. Jalaj Srivastava, who was inducted as the General Secretary of GTTCI, delivered the vote of thanks, concluding the event on a note of optimism and shared aspirations for continued diplomatic and economic cooperation.
