GTTCI Facilitates Strategic Medical Collaboration: Delegation Visit of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to Kokand University, Uzbekistan

The Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI) successfully facilitated a high-level visit of the senior leadership of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH), New Delhi, to Kokand University, Uzbekistan, from 22nd to 25th July 2025. This significant initiative was led by Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson, GTTCI.



The eminent delegation included Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman, Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, and Dr. Satendra Katoch, Director Medical, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The visit was aimed at exploring avenues for academic and institutional collaboration in the field of medical education.



The delegation commenced their visit at the Kokand branch of Kokand University, where they were given a comprehensive tour of the state-of-the-art infrastructure and academic facilities. This was followed by an in-depth visit to the Andijan branch of the University, which serves as the main centre for MBBS education.



During the visit, detailed discussions were held on action plans to enhance faculty development, recruit qualified Indian faculty, and align the university’s curriculum with the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines of India. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to uphold academic excellence and regulatory compliance.



The team also visited several key institutions in Andijan, including the Pediatric Hospital, MedCity Hospital, the Pharma Institute, a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit, the MedCity Wellness Centre, and the upcoming academic block dedicated to the Indian Medical City initiative.



The visiting doctors expressed great optimism about the opportunity to establish a hub for world-class medical education in Central Asia, especially tailored for Indian students. They affirmed their commitment to building a robust partnership that leverages Kokand University’s infrastructure excellence and the expertise of India’s medical fraternity.


Dr. Rashmi Saluja remarked, “With the advanced infrastructure provided by Kokand University, Andijan, and the renowned capabilities of Indian medical professionals, this collaboration presents a first-of-its-kind opportunity in Central Asia. It has the potential to redefine medical education for Indian aspirants, offering a global learning environment with Indian standards of excellence.”
