New Delhi, 28th October 2024 — The Embassy of Nepal, in partnership with the Lions Club Delhi Veg and the Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI), hosted a spectacular Diwali celebration at the Embassy of Nepal, uniting diplomats, ambassadors, and distinguished guests from 27 countries in a vibrant evening of lights, culture, and cross-cultural exchange.
Diwali, known as the festival of lights, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and prosperity over hardship. Reflecting these values, this celebration served as a bridge connecting different cultures, traditions, and nations, embodying a spirit of unity and global diplomacy. His Excellency Dr. Surendra Thapa, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal, along with Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson of GTTCI, and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President of GTTCI and Lions Club Delhi Veg, warmly greeted the international guests with the traditional “Patka” and exchanged Diwali gifts. Lion President Kapil Khandelwal joined in extending these festive welcomes.
The event witnessed the participation of Heads of Mission from countries including the Arab League, Suriname, Seychelles, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan, and Romania, along with diplomats from embassies of Kenya, Malaysia, Thailand, Somalia, Palestine, Myanmar, Mongolia, Guinea, USA, Nepal, UK, Italy, Romania, Chile, Sweden, Ghana, Lesotho, Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Lao PDR. The celebration also drew a large expat community from nations like Iran, Germany, Jordan, Austria, Tanzania, and Nigeria, contributing to a remarkable convergence of cultures.
Special guests included Mr. Dhiraj Dhar Gupta, Padma Shri awardees Nalini and Kamalini, Lion Governor NK Gupta, and Vinay Sharma, who further enriched the festive atmosphere. Attendees were presented with Diwali gifts as a gesture of goodwill and shared in a selection of traditional Indian delicacies. The evening featured captivating cultural performances from India and Nepal, surrounded by festive lights, lanterns, and vibrant rangoli displays that embodied the spirit of Diwali.
