Advancing Sanskrit Globally: International Central Office of Samskrita Bharati Inaugurated by Mohan Bhagwat Ji on Auspicious Akshaya Tritiya in New Delhi


On the sacred and auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, a historic cultural milestone was achieved with the Lokarpan (inauguration) of the International Central Office of Samskrita Bharati in New Delhi. The grand ceremony symbolized India’s continued commitment to preserving and promoting Sanskrit as a vital pillar of the nation’s cultural and intellectual heritage.


Samskrit Bharati is a leading organization dedicated to the promotion and propagation of Samskrit as a spoken language, aiming to make it a medium of daily communication and cultural expression.



The newly established headquarters, named “Pranavah,” is located at Deendayal Upadhyay Marg near ITO, and represents a significant step toward expanding Sanskrit education and global outreach. The Lokarpan ceremony was inaugurated by Parampujaniya Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), whose presence added immense spiritual and national significance to the occasion.



The ceremony began with traditional Pooja and Havan, invoking divine blessings for the institution’s future endeavors, followed by the unveiling of the Samskrita Bharati emblem and the formal inauguration of the newly constructed building “Pranavah.” Addressing the gathering, Mohan Bhagwat Ji explained the profound meaning of “Pranavah,” symbolizing the sacred sound Om, representing universal consciousness and spiritual unity. He emphasized that Sanskrit is not merely a language but the soul of Bharat, carrying within it the nation’s knowledge traditions, philosophy, and values.



The distinguished gathering included eminent dignitaries such as Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister of India, along with respected leaders and scholars dedicated to the promotion of Sanskrit. The event was also graced by the presence of Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Former Union Minister for Human Resource Development and Science & Technology and Former National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Prof. Ramesh Kumar Pandey (Rashtriya Adhyaksh, Samskrit Bharati), Suresh Soni and Praveenkant, President of Samskrit Bharati Trust, Delhi whose association added intellectual depth to the occasion.


Among the notable attendees was Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson of the Global Trade and Technology Council (India). Her presence reflected the growing collaboration between cultural, academic, and global institutions committed to preserving India’s timeless traditions while promoting knowledge exchange on an international scale.
