GTTCI and Religare Group Bid Farewell to Myanmar Ambassador H.E. Mr. Moe Kyaw Aung

The Global Trade & Technology Council of India (GTTCI) and Religare Group jointly organized a heartfelt farewell ceremony in honor of H.E. Mr. Moe Kyaw Aung, Ambassador of Myanmar, on 30th September 2024 at the Radisson Blu Marina, New Delhi. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including H.E. Mr. Ganbold Dambajav, Ambassador of Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Sardor Rustambaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, and diplomats from the embassies of Angola, Bhutan, Brunei, and Myanmar.

The evening began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President of GTTCI, who fondly recollected the strong bond of friendship forged with the Ambassador and their collaborative efforts through the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Society. Dr. Gupta highlighted the shared vision of deepening trade and diplomatic ties between India and Myanmar.

Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson of Religare Group, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the enduring relationship between GTTCI and the Embassy of Myanmar. She reassured the continued support and collaboration with Ambassador Moe Kyaw Aung, expressing confidence in the growing strength of the bilateral relations.

In an emotional address, H.E. Mr. Moe Kyaw Aung expressed his mixed feelings as he bid farewell to his close friends in the diplomatic community. He appreciated the warmth and support extended by GTTCI and reflected on the shared milestones achieved during his tenure.

Ambassadors, diplomats, and GTTCI Advisor, Dr. Sandeep Marwah, shared personal anecdotes and highlighted the Ambassador’s significant contributions to fostering diplomatic relations.

The closing remarks were delivered by Mr. Rakesh Asthana, Chief Advisor of GTTCI, who commended Ambassador Moe Kyaw Aung’s successful 7-year tenure, which strengthened India-Myanmar relations across trade, culture, and diplomacy.

The vote of thanks was extended by Ambassador Amarendra Khatua, acknowledging the Ambassador’s exceptional service and wishing him success in his future endeavors.

GTTCI and the Embassy of Myanmar have enjoyed a long-standing partnership, celebrating Indian festivals such as Diwali and Holi, as well as Myanmar’s Water Festival at the Embassy lawns. Together, they have raised awareness on important causes like World Cancer Day and launched the GTTC India-Myanmar Forum in December 2023, inaugurated by then Minister of State for External Affairs, Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi. The forum has since hosted successful trade showcases, further enhancing bilateral trade and cooperation.
