GTTCI Celebrates World Tourism Day 2026, Highlighting Tourism as a Catalyst for Global Connections

New Delhi, 27 September 2026: The Global Trade & Technology Council (India) (GTTCI), in association with Chicago Open University, GETCRR LLP and BRiSEC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, hosted a special programme to commemorate World Tourism Day 2026 at Le Méridien, New Delhi.



The event brought together diplomats, international representatives, industry stakeholders and tourism enthusiasts to celebrate the transformative power of tourism in fostering cross-cultural understanding, sustainable development, international cooperation and stronger global connections.


The programme was graced by the High Commissioner of Fiji H.E. Mr. Jagnnath Sami and the Ambassador of Moldova H.E. Mrs. Inga Ionesii, who also delivered presentations highlighting their countries’ distinctive tourism offerings, cultural heritage, natural attractions and opportunities for international tourism cooperation.




Representatives from Embassy of Comoros, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Sri Lanka also delivered presentations, offering insights into their respective tourism landscapes, emerging destinations, cultural experiences and opportunities to strengthen tourism exchanges with India.




Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gaura Gupta, Founder President, GTTCI, emphasised that tourism today is much more than leisure and travel, describing it as a powerful instrument for economic diversification, employment generation, investment and international cooperation. He highlighted the importance of exploring emerging destinations and encouraging travellers to look beyond traditional tourism circuits while ensuring that safety, accessibility, sustainability and visitor confidence remain central to tourism development.



Dr. Gupta further emphasised the role of diplomatic missions, tourism stakeholders and businesses in transforming tourism opportunities into meaningful partnerships. He noted that through destination promotion, business networking and international collaboration, stronger tourism linkages can be created between India and partner countries, generating opportunities for businesses, communities and travellers alike.


The programme featured presentations and discussions on Emerging Tourism Markets, providing participants with an opportunity to discover new destinations, understand evolving tourism trends and explore avenues for international cooperation. The presentations by the Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives showcased the diversity of tourism experiences across Fiji, Moldova, Comoros, Mongolia, Nicaragua and Sri Lanka, while highlighting their potential to attract Indian travellers and deepen people-to-people connections.




The celebration reinforced the vision of tourism as more than travel—it is a powerful bridge connecting places, people and partnerships. GTTCI reiterated its commitment to facilitating international engagement and creating platforms that encourage tourism-led collaboration, sustainable development, destination promotion and stronger global relationships.
