The GTTCI Trade Chamber successfully hosted a high-level strategic meeting with the delegation from BioCubaFarma, Cuba’s premier biotechnology and pharmaceutical organization, on 25th May 2026 at Radisson Blu Marina Hotel, New Delhi. The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening India–Cuba cooperation in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, preventive wellness, and advanced medical research.

The interaction brought together senior representatives from BioCubaFarma, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba, GTTCI leadership, and Indian innovation stakeholders to explore long-term collaboration opportunities across manufacturing, research, investment, technology transfer, and integrated healthcare systems.

The meeting commenced with welcome remarks by Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson – GTTCI, who emphasized the growing importance of healthcare diplomacy and highlighted the immense potential for India and Cuba to work together in creating affordable, accessible, and innovative healthcare solutions for global markets.

Dr. Saluja underlined that Cuba has earned international recognition for its strong biotechnology ecosystem and advanced pharmaceutical research capabilities. She noted that future collaboration should focus not only on medicines and therapeutics, but also on positioning preventive and integrated healthcare systems as a key pillar of bilateral cooperation.

The Cuban delegation was led by Dr. David Roger Curbelo and included Dr. Jorge Valdéz Hernandez, and chaired by H.E. Mr. Juan Carlos Marsen Aguilera. The Ambassador highlighted the longstanding and trusted relationship between India and Cuba spanning over two decades and welcomed the emergence of new collaborative frameworks between institutions from both countries.
The GTTCI participants included Founder President – Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Head of Corporate Affairs – Ms. Jeeva Bhat, Director – Mr. Shubham Gupta who actively participated in discussions relating to international partnerships, healthcare innovation, business facilitation, and future collaboration models between Indian and Cuban stakeholders.
The meeting also witnessed participation from Kadamba Nano Technology, represented by Dr. Deepa Prakash and Ms. Ilaa Hegde. Their presentation focused on opportunities for integrating biotechnology with advanced green nanotechnology and holistic healthcare systems to create next-generation preventive and therapeutic healthcare solutions.
During the presentation, BioCubaFarma showcased Cuba’s globally recognized biotechnology and pharmaceutical capabilities, including:
- Vaccine research and development;
- Oncology and immunotherapy;
- Preventive healthcare systems;
- Biotechnology manufacturing;
- Joint venture opportunities; and
- International commercialization platforms.
The delegation shared that BioCubaFarma currently exports its products and technologies to over 41 countries and operates through an integrated scientific and manufacturing ecosystem supporting domestic and international healthcare requirements.

Particular attention was given to Cuba’s innovative healthcare solutions, including the Abdala COVID-19 vaccine platform, cancer therapeutics such as Nimotuzumab, autoimmune treatment solutions, diabetic care technologies, and ongoing research in neurological and respiratory healthcare.
The discussions also explored the possibility of expanding collaborations in India through:
- Joint manufacturing facilities;
- Technology transfer models;
- Clinical research partnerships;
- Preventive healthcare initiatives;
- Nano-technology integration; and
- Strategic investments in healthcare innovation.
The meeting further emphasized the importance of combining preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative healthcare models to address emerging global health challenges and lifestyle-related disorders.

Dr. Gaurav Gupta reiterated GTTCI’s commitment to facilitating strategic partnerships between Indian and international stakeholders across healthcare, biotechnology, investment, and innovation sectors. GTTCI expressed its readiness to support investor outreach, business matchmaking, policy coordination, and collaborative initiatives in multiple formats.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to continue detailed engagements through exchange of technical information, collaborative proposals, and follow-up interactions. Discussions also included plans for a future delegation visit to Cuba to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore institutional partnerships on-ground.
The interaction reflects GTTCI’s continued commitment toward building meaningful global partnerships that promote innovation, healthcare accessibility, scientific collaboration, and sustainable international economic cooperation.
