New Delhi, 21 May 2026: The Global Trade & Technology Council (India) – GTTCI successfully hosted a vibrant celebration of International Tea Day at KOPA, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, bringing together ambassadors, diplomats, and distinguished guests from across the world to celebrate cultural exchange, friendship, and the global heritage of tea.




The event commenced with a warm welcome note by Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder President – GTTCI, who highlighted tea as a symbol of peace, dialogue, and international friendship.

Dr. Rashmi Saluja, Chairperson – GTTCI, delivered a special address on International Tea Day, emphasizing tea’s cultural, economic, and social significance in connecting nations and communities worldwide.

Dr. D.R. Kaarthikeyan also addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of cultural diplomacy and global harmony through shared traditions.

The celebration was graced by the Ambassadors of Cuba and Kyrgyzstan, while representatives and dignitaries from Cuba, Czech Republic, Egypt, Iraq, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, UN ESCAP, and Vietnam also participated in the event and shared their thoughts on the importance of tea in their respective cultures. The CDA of Nepal also attended the celebration and participated in the discussions on tea diplomacy and cultural cooperation.









A major highlight of the evening was the special international tea tasting experience featuring premium tea varieties from different countries. Guests enjoyed more than four varieties of Indian tea, over seven varieties of Sri Lankan tea, four to five varieties of Nepali tea, along with specialty teas from Egypt, Iraq, and Vietnam. The specially curated Sri Lankan tea display received immense appreciation and admiration from all the distinguished attendees.






The event concluded with the felicitation of ambassadors and diplomats in recognition of their valuable contributions towards strengthening international friendship, cultural understanding, and global cooperation. GTTCI’s International Tea Day celebration reflected its continued commitment towards promoting global engagement and meaningful diplomatic dialogue through culture and tradition.
